Basic properties
Dibenzyl maleate (DBZM), chemically known as *dibenzyl (Z)-but-2-enedioate*, is a colorless to pale yellow transparent oily liquid with a relative density of 1.137 g/mL at 25°C. It exhibits high solubility in most organic solvents (e.g., ethanol, acetone, ethyl acetate) but is insoluble in water (<0.01 wt% solubility at 20°C).
